This program is your gateway to becoming an electrician, with free training, evening and weekend classes, and direct entry opportunities into the union Residential Electrical Apprenticeship for top performers.
Program Overview
The program begins January 5, 2026 with an Electrical Pre-Apprenticeship with the Puget Sound Electrical Joint Apprenticeship Training Council (PSEJATC) that includes workplace skills training with Seattle Jobs Initiative. Programming will be offered in English.
Participants will be divided into two cohorts.
Cohort #1 will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Cohort #2 will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Both cohorts will meet on Saturdays.
NOTE: These schedules are currently in draft form and are subject to minor modifications before classes begin.
Required Mathematics Prep Course
There will be 15 hours of supplemental mathematics instruction required for all pre-apprentices. The schedule will be as follows:
Cohort #1 Classes: January 5, 7, 12, 14, 19, 21 (Mon./Weds.)
Cohort #2 Classes: January 6, 8, 13, 15, 20, 22 (Tue./Thurs.)
A mandatory pre-test is required to apply, see details below.

Prepare for the Mathematics Pre-Test
All applicants must take a 90-minute pre-test and achieve a score of 40 percent or higher on that test to receive further consideration to join the pre-apprenticeship.
45 pre-test slots are available on each of these dates: November 17, December 9, December 20. Testing will occur at Highline Community College in Des Moines.
Applicants who advance to the pre-testing phase will receive email invitations allowing them to sign up for testing on one of the three available dates.
